At first glance, this image seems simple. But look at it for a few seconds and you may notice something surprising: your brain can interpret the same shape in more than one way.
So, what did you see first — a rabbit or a fish? 🐰🐟
Pictures like this are known as ambiguous or optical-illusion images. They are designed so that your visual system can organize the same shapes into different interpretations.
🧠 Why Can We See Two Different Animals?
Your eyes don’t simply take a photograph of everything in front of you. Your brain receives visual information and then works to organize lines, shapes, shadows, and patterns into something meaningful.
With an ambiguous image, there may be more than one reasonable interpretation. Once your brain recognizes one version, it can become easier to notice the alternative.
That’s why someone might immediately say “rabbit!”, while another person looks at the exact same picture and says “fish!”
And here’s the interesting part: both people are looking at the same image.
